Are you concerned about the direction that our country is taking? Do you feel helpless to change what is happening? There is one way we can effect change: talk to the Creator and Master of the universe. We invite you to join us at noon in front of Tehachapi City Hall on Thursday, May 5, for a 1-hour meeting to pray for our nation. Tennison Shetler, of Christian Life Assembly, will lead some praise songs, and there will be a short message. The majority of the time will be spent praying for our country. At 7 p.m., there will be an All-City...
We had two city-wide meetings in Tehachapi on Thursday, May 6, the National Day of Prayer. At noon about 100 people gathered in front of City Hall to pray. Pastor Ken Burton of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church led us in "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and "They'll Know We are Christians by Our Love." It was great to see many people from different churches all over the city coming together to ask God's healing for America. At 7 p.m. about 50 people from different churches came to Summit Christian Fellow...
Is there any value to prayer? Is there really a God who hears us? The Bible says, “If my people will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). It sounds to me like God hears our prayers, but He also cares about the way that we live and the attitudes of our hearts. Thursday, May 6, is the National Day of Prayer, and it looks like our country is in desperate need of help from above! There are two community events in Teh...
I like Tehachapi! I like our little town and the people who live here. I like the open space, the mountains, the clean air, the trees and all of the little privately owned businesses. We have a movie theater, a live theater and lots of great restaurants. I like all of these things. What I do not like is how cold it gets in the wintertime! So, what do you do on a cold February night? Come and join a bunch of warm-hearted brothers and sisters in a celebration of the unity of all who are truly trusting in Jesus. Sunday, Feb. 23, 6 p.m. at the...
I remember singing old Christmas carols when I was growing up. My family did not go to church, but we sang at school, Christmas carolers came to our house and we even sang carols at the annual Hughes Aircraft Christmas party. Do you miss those songs that used to give our hearts such joy? At 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, at Grace Fellowship, 326 E. Tehachapi Blvd., we will have a night of just singing old Christmas carols to the Lord. We will sing “Silent Night,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World and many others. The service will be f...
