Tehachapi Valley Wrestling Club has been busy the last two weeks bringing home trophies and medals. April 20-22 TVWC wrestlers took it to the mat at the California State Kids Greco Tournament held in Fresno. "We feel it is important to honor our Kern County Veterans and we do this with this tournament," said KCWA Director Curtis Nelson. Tehachapi Valley Wrestling Club sent six wrestlers to the 2018 California Kids Folkstyle Championships on March 17 and 18 in Fresno. Tehachapi Valley Wrestling Club has begun their Freestyle wrestling season with the Kern County Wrestling Association, competing in the KCWA Eastern Sabers Tournament, March 10 at East High School. Local BMX racer Alex Howard recently moved up to the Expert Division of the 9-year-old age group. Winning his 12th race at Bakersfield Metro race track on March 2. Alex had been competing in the Intermediate Division which is where racers learn to use clip pedals and start to upgrade their bikes. Alex had competed at the Winter Nationals in Las Vegas in January and brought home first place trophies. Tehachapi was well represented at the Bakersfield Metro BMX, "Northern Calif. Vs Southern Calif" race on August 20. With over 200 BMX riders from throughout California, this was one of the biggest races Metro has had on their newly designed and improved track. Local 8-year-old racer Alex Howard competed in the 8 and under Intermediate Division and finished with a 1st place license plate award. Two outstanding wrestlers have gone undefeated in the KCWA meets so far this year, Jacob Cardenas, Rookie 55lb and Bill Takara 100lb Novice. April 16, TVWC competed at Arvin Grizzlies Tournament with Jacob Cardenas and Jairden Medina placing first in their Divisions.
