Neighborhood Watch and the Property Owners Association (POA) joined forces to provide two additional Automated Electronic Defibrillators to the Stallion Springs Police Department. Derby Downs Cart Races On Saturday Oct. 7 the Police Athletic League, (PAL), held Derby Downs Cart Races on Stallion Springs Drive with over 30 participants. The winner was Parker Rodriguez. After many two car heats the final winner was determined by the fastest time down the course. Due to illegal dumping by residents and non-residents the trash transfer station will soon be fenced and access controlled. The Stallion Springs Community Services District hosted a Town Hall Meeting regarding the future of the Horsethief Country Club & Golf Course on Wednesday Aug. 9 to provide available current information and possible future plans for the course. Stallion Springs CSD has installed a new radio system for better communications between the field staff and the office. The new system will replace the current cellular phone system which had many dead areas in the community. Stallion Springs residents held a meeting at noon on Saturday, Jan. 14 to rally against the proposed reduction of staffing at Station 18. The reduction proposed by the Board of Supervisors would reduce the staffing of the facility from three to two firefighters per shift. Christmas is coming and it was a busy week in Stallion Springs. Over 120 kids and their parents came to Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 3. Santa was kept busy for the three hours he was able to stay in Stallion before heading back to the North Pole. He returned on Dec. 10 for a few hours during the caroling rides to greet the kids that missed him at breakfast. On Nov. 5, the Stallion Springs Community Emergency Response Team, CERT, graduated a class of 12 new members having completed the 20 hours of training required for certification. The Stallion Springs Police Department recently took delivery of two new police cars. The cars are 2016 Ford Explorer Police Interceptors fully outfitted for police duty. In addition to the standard equipment they have washable rear seats to help with clean up from the occasional sick person arrested and a protective cage for officer safety.
