Stallion housing Last year was a busy year for housing and related projects in Stallion Springs. Permits for 32 new homes were issued, 20 new fences and 13 new storage buildings and sheds. Multiple new permits were also issued for tree removal, standalone garages, patios, solar, new roofs and painting. Nine permits were also issued for various other property improvement projects. The Stallion Springs Community really came together for the first Trails Maintenance day we've had in a few years. It was a great turnout and a beautiful day and we were able to clear so much terrain in a short amount if time. Home Owners Association The Stallion Springs Home Owners Association held their annual meeting on November 14 on the lawn adjacent to the Community Center. Kern County Fire provided a class for CERT members wanting to complete their DSW Certification and need to update their FIRST AID/CPR credentials. The class was provided by grant funds. Work is continuing on the Transfer Station. The station was closed for three days to allow for trenching and cable runs for the new access system. The system will require an access sticker on your vehicle, and will only allow authorized vehicles to open the gate. This will help eliminate unauthorized dumping at the site. The Board of Directors approved funds to expand the solid waste site and the project is underway. After investigating the possibility of moving the site, it was determined that because the existing site for solid waste transfer was already approved, it would be very cost effective to modify the existing site in order to meet the needs of the community, as well as the state and county. The Library is headed to their new location. When the new administrative offices were built in 2009 the old CSD building was opened as a large library, a POA room and a place for small meetings. At the March 17 Board meeting the Stallion Springs Board of Directors named Vanessa Stevens as acting general manager for the District. Interim General Manager, David Aranda, submitted his two weeks notice of resignation on Feb. 28 to the president of the Board. The Stallion Springs CSD held a Town Hall meeting on Feb. 29 at the Community Center. The CSD held the meeting regarding proposed changes to what is acceptable waste and what is not at the solid waste site. The CSD sent out surveys to 1,400 residents with three possible options.
