    St. Vincent De Paul has a Disaster Services Division. On May 22, the COO Elizabeth Disco-Shearer came and spoke about disaster preparedness, and the services they offer at St Malachy's Church. In attendance were St Vincent de Paul members, the Tehachapi CERT team, and The Legion Riders from Post 711 at Lake Isabella.     Carlos Castellanos of Carlos' Donuts presents a check to Sally Perriman of Wood Family Funeral Home in the amount of $3457. The money was raised Friday, Oct. 28, to assist with the funeral expenses of the three Tehachapi residents who lost their lives earlier in the month on June Lake: Douglas and Jacob Langston, and Caleb Johnson.   • Bank of Sierra Grant goes to American Legion Womens Auxiliary

    The American Legion Auxiliary recently was the recipient of a grant from the Bank of Sierra. The grant will go towards their award winning "Feed Our Veterans" project, which assists Veteran Students attending the Air-Streams Wind Turbine Training program in Tehachapi, Calif. Students come from all over the United States to get the special certifications from the 6-week training program, which enable them to get into the wind, oil and telecommunications industries.   • Home Depot Foundation Helps Local Veteran

    On a beautiful November Saturday, eighteen Home Depot employees went to Veteran Becky Byrd’s house. They installed new hardware to her kitchen drawers, a new vanity (and faucet) in daughter’s bathroom, new tub in the master bathroom, and repainted her front door (and deck). They also built her three dogs a house with awning to protect them from the elements. Everyone had a pre-assigned task, including the three children that were there with their parents.
