On Saturday, April 14, the 10th Annual Tehachapi Bark For Life was a "woofunderful" event. Since its founding the Friends of the Tehachapi Depot (FOTD) have taken on the task of promoting railroad safety. Here in Tehachapi, with its many vehicle crossings and over a mile-long corridor of double railroad tracks going through the center of town, unsafe crossings by pedestrians are a common sight. In Friendship Hall of Tehachapi UCC rehearsals have begun for the Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra's spring concert. Under the baton of Musical Director and Conductor Dr. David Newby the symphony warmed up with Beethoven's Symphony #4 in B Major, Opus 60. After a one year absence, the annual TVRPD annual fishing derby surfaced again to a large crowd of anglers. The lake was restocked with 1,500 pounds of fresh Oregon grown trout just days before the event. Many of the stocked trout were in the 4-6 pound range. This year there were no "tagged" fish for prizes. The heaviest fish caught in each age category was the winner....

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1000 and the Tehachapi Society of Pilots (TSP) members provided flights to young adults ages 8 to 17 on Saturday Oct. 3. This is part of the EAA's "Young Eagles" Program. The prospective flyers must be accompanied by a parent who will be required to sign a waiver. Twenty-minute flights were provided free of charge.
