Once Tehachapi was sure we were getting a new hospital and before Adventist Health became a partner with the Tehachapi Health Care District, The Rotary Club of Tehachapi and The Lions Club of Tehachapi formed a partnership to do something for kids at our anticipated new facility. The Apple Festival was meant to be family and especially kid-friendly. When streets are closed and the environment feels safe, parents are comfortable letting their kids go and have fun. That is what we hoped to accomplish at this year's Apple Festival. Our best estimate is that at least 2,100 kids enjoyed the bounce houses. The Rotary Club of Tehachapi is having its annual Bike Opportunity Drawing. This year we will be giving away a KHS frame with 100mm-travel RST air fork. Members from two Rotary Clubs, Tehachapi and China Lake, went on a weekend trip April 7-8 to support the Ninos de la Promesa Orphanage in Tijuana. This year we celebrate the 5th year of The Tehachapi Apple Festival. It takes place on Oct. 7 from 10 til 6 p.m. and Oct. 8 from 10 til 4 p.m. on Green St. in Downtown Tehachapi. There is no denying that the use of bicycles has increased tremendously in the last few years.
