After two years of preparation, Art 2021 held their opening gala on July 23. Nearly 270 artists and guests mingled and helped themselves to hors d'oeuvres provided by Bord A Petite of Bakersfield and wine provided by Dorner Family Vineyard as they strolled the aisles of paintings. On the afternoon of July 9, Adventist Health introduced John R. Garcia, MD to the community with a meet and greet at the Coffee Mill cafe. Garcia, a board-certified surgeon, will be working out of the Adventist Health Rural Clinic located at 105 East E Street in Tehachapi. Garcia said that he is scheduled to be at the clinic every other week and doing scheduled surgeries at the hospital on alternating weeks. Shelley and Doug Halverson moved into their new Tehachapi home in April. Now retired, they moved from Madera to be closer to their grown son who lives in Bakersfield. A new martial arts studio has opened in Old Town Tehachapi. Owners Rachel Jager and Yin Chi Fuller cut the ribbon at Alchemy Jiu Jitsu Academy on July 11. Ron and Glenda Rich moved to Tehachapi about a year ago from Ridgecrest where they had lived since they married five years ago. Both had previously lived in Bakersfield and loved the clean air, natural beauty and seasonal weather of Tehachapi.
