It is with great sadness that I must tell you all that the Tehachapi Humane Society will be closing at the end of the year. It is mainly due to a lack of funds and volunteers. There is only a handful of women running it and it has been this way for years. We will not issue any more spay/neuter vouchers after November 30. The Tehachapi Humane Society is the oldest humane organization in the Tehachapi area. The grassroots organization has been forced to make some major changes. The Humane Society’s office on Golden Star will be closed as of April 1. Therefore, they will not be able to hand out pet food to low income pet owners.
