We know that the Summer Reading Program is a little different this year since all the activities are online instead of in person, but one thing is the same: we still have prizes for you! You can log your reading on the Beanstack app just like last year (if you need more information about how that works, visit www.kerncoutnylibrary.org/src or give us a call). Having to stay home can be a hardship, but we at the library want all our favorite patrons to stay healthy and happy during these trying times. You wouldn't know it by the weather outside, but things are heating up at the library. Even though it is still winter, we are getting in gear to kick off our summer reading challenge. Last year, our summer reading challenge had 370 participants, but we also had almost 2,000 people attend our programs in June and July, and we served over 600 free lunches through our lunch at the library program in conjunction with Tehachapi Unified School district. I love books. I will read an entire book because I like the way the cover fits in my hands or because its cover has a specific texture. Walking into libraries and used books stores has always made me happy just because of the smell and feel of the books. That being said, I love eBooks! There is something wonderful about knowing that if I finish the second book in a series at 1 a.m., I can instantly download the third one without having to wait! I also love audio books.
