  • Gratitude knows no bounds

    Anne Marie and George Novinger|Jan 4, 2020

The recent massive snowstorm caused unbelievable hardship for many, especially those with limited physical abilities. We want to acknowledge the neighbors and friends that came forward and helped us in many ways. We appreciated Scott Hiebert and Sally Romano for slogging through very deep snow to our front door to be sure we were OK! Thank you for clearing the snow from our driveway Jim Buge, Ann Gonzalez and the Nelsons. Thank you Jon Hammond for cutting away and moving tree limbs that blocked our driveway and guiding our stuck car to safety....

    Jan 4, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Brady D.C., on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019. Tehachapi and the world has lost a bright and shining light. Terry was born in Melbourne, Australia. He was the youngest child of Maurice and Connie Brady, following brothers Allan (deceased) and Graeme, still living in Australia. In his younger years he was a fruit farmer working on his father's orchards in Cobram, Victoria. He decided to attend Chiropractic College upon the insistence of his...

  • XB-70 and Fitz Fulton

    Cathy Hansen|Jan 4, 2020

I want to share a photo of Fitz Fulton and Bob Hoover that was taken by Mike Owen at the retirement party held for Dan Sabovich in 2002. These two men, Fitzhugh Fulton and Bob Hoover, are decorated veterans of World War II and Korea and were participants in legendary flight test work with the U.S. Air Force. I love the photos we have of the many illustrious test pilots that have flown in the skies over Edwards AFB, California City, Boron, North Edwards, Rosamond, Lancaster, Palmdale and Mojave....

  • Ready for 2020

    Mel White|Jan 4, 2020

Another new year is upon us. And I'm meeting this new year once again with a plethora of mixed feelings and emotions. In many ways 2019 sucked and I'm ready for it to end. At the same time, I've always loved new beginnings, and the start of a brand new year is always a good one. It's as if when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve, everything changes; possibilities are endless. Everything old is new again. When the clock's hands both point upwards in the dead of a cold winter's night,...

  • Back in square nail days...

    Pat Gracey|Jan 4, 2020

One-hundred-thirty-two years ago there was a small frame building built on West F Street. A frame church built with square nails and lumber with redwood pilings for the foundation. This was in the year 1884. Local parishioners were the construction crew and there was a bell in the bell tower that rang for the Sunday service. Travel being what it was in those days, it took the Bishop from the Los Angeles area a few years to arrange time to travel to the small mountain community to officially...

  • Why Canine Creek really is your furry family's favorite place to shop

Julianna Crisalli, Canine Creek Pet Wash & Boutique|Jan 4, 2020

I'm the kind of animal lover who would visit pet stores and boutiques, even when I didn't have a pet to shop for. It was like window shopping for my future furry family. The sights and sounds of squeaky toys held me over until the day I had fur babies of my own. When I lived in Orange County, I could walk to every store I needed from my apartment. I often took the longer route so I could walk through Petsmart and dream of wet noses and soft fur. It was still a couple years, after moving back to...
