The Kern County Fire Department in partnership with the Kern County Sheriff's Office is assisting the elderly in preparing for the predicted upcoming El Nino storms by providing free sandbags and sand in an event to be held at the fire department headquarters, 5642 Victor Street, Bakersfield, California, and at the David Head Center in Lamont, from 10:00am to 12:00 noon this Saturday, January 16th. Residents can fill up to 25 sandbags per address with provided sand. Supplies will be limited....
