Tehachapi’s own Triassic Legacy Wines located in Cummings Valley received an email this week from the San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition. According to owner, Jim Arnold, he was told that his 2012 Zinfandel had won a Double Gold and, in fact, all five wines that Triassic entered in the competition had won an award. Despite the rainy weather, the Tehachapi Gandy Dancers Square Dance Club hosted their Snow Picnic 2015 Dance. A total of 22 people braved the elements to attend the dance with members representing the Aces and Deuces from Palmdale, the Joaquin Squares from Bakersfield, and of course, the Tehachapi Gandy Dancers. Two squares were on the dance floor at a time. Bob Knowles provided the calls for the square dancing. Square dancers danced to a variety of music, from country to the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. The long awaited seasonal reopening of the Tehachapi pool at the Dye Natatorium is coming in February. It all starts with the Annual Penguin Plunge fundraiser Jan. 31, 2015. All are invited to join other Dye Natatorium staff and fans for a dip into the pool. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Dye Natatorium located at 400-B South Snyder, Tehachapi. Improv comedy is coming back to Tehachapi! On Saturday, January 24 at 7 p.m. the Bakersfield-based Center for Improv Advancement (that's right, the CIA!) will present the third in a series of family-friendly and hilariously unpredictable shows at Fiddlers Crossing. The troupe's shows are similar to the popular TV show, "Whose Line is it Anyway?" Each show is live, unscripted and unique. Tehachapi Community Theatre is proud to announce its “Tickets For Charity” partnership with Have A Heart Humane Society (haveahearthumanesociety.org) for opening night Friday, January 30 of their new adult comedy Sylvia. TCT has donated 42 tickets, a total value of $630, to Have A Heart for them to sell as a fundraiser. The Tehachapi Police Department recently completed repair work and officially opened the temporary holding facility on January 13, 2015. The Board of State and Community Corrections conducted an inspection of the facility in June of 2014. The inspection revealed several areas of the facility which were not in compliance with State regulations. Second District Supervisor Zack Scrivner announced today a vacancy on the Mountain Meadows Community Services District Board of Directors. “Our local districts need a full board to meet quorum requirements and to carry out the business of providing services that residents depend on.
