On March 1, the Tehachapi Lions Club honored B.S.E. Rents with a Harry J. Aslan Fellowship Award for their continual support of the club's Apple Drop fundraiser. B.S.E. Stallion Springs CERT The Stallion Springs CERT team held its basic training classes over the past four weeks. The course prepared residents on what to do during an emergency in the community. The classes included courses in Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety, Search and Rescue, Medical Operations, Disaster Phychology, Terrorism, and Communications. A total of 23.5 hours was involved. Marget Willer has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by Kiwanis Division 33. The presentation was made at the Kiwanis Governor's Official Visit to Bakersfield. A dozen members of Tehachapi Kiwanis Club attended the dinner event at Hodel's Restaurant to honor her. Local BMX racer Alex Howard recently moved up to the Expert Division of the 9-year-old age group. Winning his 12th race at Bakersfield Metro race track on March 2. Alex had been competing in the Intermediate Division which is where racers learn to use clip pedals and start to upgrade their bikes.
