    California State Parks is beginning the spring tour season at Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park in Tehachapi. Although no structures remain on this Kawaiisu Native American village site, the area’s rich history comes alive through the trained volunteer tour guides and the clues that the inhabitants left behind. Tomo Kahni means “winter home” in Kawaiisu, and rock rings mark the locations of many of the kahni, or homes, that were built of juniper boughs.     May 7, 2015 – Nurses at Tehachapi Hospital are being honored with The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform everyday.     Nancy Grecian, age 68, passed away on May 14th, in Tehachapi, CA. Nancy was born to Bill and Marcheta Lockhart on June 20, 1946, in Tulsa, OK. She spent her youth and school years in Craig, CO. She received her teaching certificate with a speech and theatre major from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. That’s where she got hooked on theatre while performing the ingénue role in Moliere’s “Tartuffe.” Her teaching career began in Tehachapi in 1969, where she taught English, math, and geography.     The Tehachapi Police Department is warning the community of several IRS Scam’s that have recently been reported. In these scams, the caller places a phone call to the potential victim and alleges they are calling from the Internal Revenue Service. The victim is told they owe money to the IRS and they could have criminal charges filed against them or even be arrested if they do not pay.     The story behind the beautiful silver grey barn wood: It was donated to us by our neighbors, Jim and Trudy Kirby, who live on a 20 acre parcel from the original Cummings’ Family Homestead in Cummings Valley. The homestead was originally settled in the mid-late 1800s by the Cummings family. The 20 acres we live on was part of the original homestead also.
