    Michele Dorner, Dorner Family Vineyard|Jun 20, 2020

As the Grand opening of our Tasting Room and Winery quickly approaches, Mike and I reflect back on the 10-year journey that brought us to this very spot in our lives. In the summer of 2009, after planning and saving for five years, we set off on...

  • Walking through time

    Midge Lyndee, Book Review|Jun 20, 2020

Have you ever walked in the footsteps of history? Good writers use their words with skilled precision. They draw the reader deep, immersing them so completely they feel the emotions as if they had lived the events themselves. Feel them, taste them, hear them, touch them. Readers can experience history like a memory. It’s good to remember history … the lessons, how humanity moved through it and came out of the hardest parts. Acknowledging history helps us hold the good parts close, keeping the...

Owens Valley 1918: I ran onto some interesting facts about the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. The facts centered around the cities of Lone Pine, Independence, Big Pine and Bishop; small communities on the east side of the great Sierra Nevada Mountain range in California's Owens Valley. In the early Spring, even before the Spanish Flu found the area, the public school in Independence was just reopening after having been closed for three weeks due to a Whooping Cough epidemic in the area. No...

This is Murray Family Farms, an agricultural oasis including more than 170 varieties of fruit trees as well as berry vines and row crops that keep the Big Red Barn stocked with fresh produce year-round....

This was a difficult decision and adds to the list of canceled programs for the year. Tehachapi is filled with countless avid and passionate aquatic users. But as one of the community’s providers for health and wellness, we have a responsibility to k...
