  • Talk about depression, people in Tehachapi can help

    Julianna Crisalli|Jun 23, 2018

This week's column is slightly different, but it reaches the heart of what this column is meant to focus on - inspirational people, places and opportunities in our community that help others and make us stronger. When Anthony Bourdain took his own life a couple weeks ago, it left me sad and angry. There have been so many high-profile/celebrity suicides over the last few years that have come as such a shock and have felt deeply personal. Bourdain hit me hard, as did Robin Williams. They were...

  • Nothing can get in the way of the next meal

    Bill Mead, Columnist Emeritus|Jun 23, 2018

Today, We Honor The Overall Man Classic Bill Mead Reprinted with permission from Tehachapi Lifestyle Magazine, April 2014 issue. I never thought I was fixated on food until my daughter Maggie's husband, Arch, expressed dismay over our family's tendency to discuss the dinner menu while still eating lunch. That's pretty much how everybody was during my growing-up years in the cornbelt. Partly that was because grocery stores didn't sell a lot of ready-to-cook meals back then. Nearly everything had...

  • Watch out for 'mshelper'

    Greg Cunningham|Jun 23, 2018

In spite of the "ms" in the name, "mshelper" is malware that runs on a Mac "mshelper" is designed to hog all the resources (processor time, memory and hard disk) on a Mac. • Use the Bible responsibly

    Nancy Bacon, Reverend|Jun 23, 2018

Like many of you, my heart is broken for the children and parents being separated at our southern border. I pray that by the time this article goes to print this traumatic situation will be stopped. Imagine your young child taken from you by strangers for a misdemeanor offense, while it is being investigated. It makes me sick that people are claiming this is the law and there's nothing that can be done. It was the law that a righteous man must marry a virgin, but Jesus' earthly dad didn't let...

  • Rodeo days – A moment in time

    Pat Gracey|Jun 23, 2018

I have read the pros and cons about rodeos in the news lately, but the following event happened (it's hard to realize) some 71 years ago. It's an article from my husband, Doyle Gracey's writings. No opinions about the sport, "just the facts." When World War II ended my husband, with only three years time in the military, was separated for a short while before he realized he'd left the Marine Corps a bit prematurely. By 1948 he was to re-enlist and spend another 27 years in Uncle Sam's United...
