But much has also recently changed at Kelcy's. When husband and wife Bill Lee and Virginia Sheridan bought Kelcy's in 2017, the restaurant was no longer serving dinner or alcohol, having given those...

What exactly is functional strength training and how does it differ from traditional strength training? Simply put, functional strength training programs engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously by attempting to mimic basic human movement patterns. In contrast, a traditional strength program isolates a specific muscle group, such as the biceps, quads, or back to build strength in a particular area. However, it doesn't have to be one or the other. A strong functional training program should f...

This time every year I start to get that feeling that an important date is just around the corner and that feeling has been with me for decades. Back in the early 1970s, I was in a hobby shop and the owner handed me a book about the 5,000 series 4-10-2 Southern Pacific locomotives. The Boynton written "Three Barrels of Steam" started me on a journey that I continue with today. The great cloud burst of 1932 over the Tehachapis had a chapter dedicated to it as one of the locomotives involved with...

Clients and students in my finance classes have heard this term from me ceaselessly. I'm a firm believer in the concept of creating "streams of income" and interestingly enough, situations may create different streams for each and every one of us. There are basic opportunities many of us share. You may have a retirement plan or a 401K plan at work. What if you leave that place of employment? You, depending on your situation, may maintain the old account while creating a different stream of...
If you've invested in an IRA for many decades, it may well turn into a key source of income for your retirement. Still, you might not deplete your IRA in your lifetime, especially if you also have a pension or a 401(k) and other investment income. So, if your IRA still has sizable assets after your passing, it would likely end up in your estate plan. If you leave your IRA to grown children or other family members, could they be hit with a big tax bill? Here's a little background: Up until the Se...
When the cold weather rolls around and the first slippery days confront drivers, it's tempting to say, "I need an all-wheel-drive or four-wheel-drive vehicle to deal with the weather." Well, maybe you don't. Maybe there's another solution that is much more economical and may even have better results for you. There are a lot of people who think having power at all four corners of the vehicle is the answer to all winter can throw at you. True, you can get going more quickly in an all-wheel-drive...
