    On Friday night, Aug. 3 a reception was held at Gallery 'N' Gifts for award winners in their bi-annual photo contests. Since 2005, the group has held amateur photo contests each February and August. With $100 Best of Show Grand Prize and $25 cash prizes for each first-place award, the contest always has a good showing of contestants. Wheeler retired after 25 years in Law enforcement, 15 years with the Kern County Sheriff's Department and 11 years in Long Beach. Six of those years at the LBPD were as a motorcycle officer.
