The 20th annual Thunder on the Mountain Car and Truck Show will be held on Sunday, August 20 in historic downtown Tehachapi. From June to September, Souza Family Vineyard hosts the Dog Days of Summer. Once a month people and their furry friends come out and show their support to a nonprofit organization which helps dogs (and cats). Souza then donates a portion of the wine sale proceeds to the organization. Tehachapi has lost one of our most influential citizens, Chelley Kitzmiller. She passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 6, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. Chelley was born Cheryl Jean Clarke on July 27, 1946 in Santa Monica California. Chelley met Ted Kitzmiller, her husband of 53 years, at Sunny Hills High School, when he stole a Nestle Crunch Bar from her. They were married 5 months later on September 21, 1953. A Facebook plea for donations went out to Have a Heart Humane Society followers for pets in the Lake Isabella fire area. So far we have scheduled CALM (California Living Museum, Bakersfield) to do presentations in four schools: Carden Charter School, Cummings Valley Elementary School, Hope Academy Charter School and Valley Oaks Charter School.
