Carl Leonard Brooks, Jr. passed on February 18 at the age of 74. He was a Tehachapi resident for 73 years. Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He also served with Kern County Fire Department for 31 years. He retired as an Engineer after serving many years at the Bear Valley Springs Fire Station. Kern County Fire provided a class for CERT members wanting to complete their DSW Certification and need to update their FIRST AID/CPR credentials. The class was provided by grant funds. Effective immediately, the City of Tehachapi has declared a local emergency in response to the COVID-19 health crisis following Governor Gavin Newsom’s Executive Order (N-33-20) which includes a statewide stay-at-home order to all Californians.
