Stallion Springs CSD has installed a new radio system for better communications between the field staff and the office. The new system will replace the current cellular phone system which had many dead areas in the community. The cell system often required the field staff to leave a work location and find a spot where they could call from to get parts or assistance on a project and they often missed a call from the office about a problem due to the lack of service. The Stallion Springs Police Department works with the children in the community as part of its community policing effort. Stallion Springs residents held a meeting at noon on Saturday, Jan. 14 to rally against the proposed reduction of staffing at Station 18. The reduction proposed by the Board of Supervisors would reduce the staffing of the facility from three to two firefighters per shift. Christmas is coming and it was a busy week in Stallion Springs. Over 120 kids and their parents came to Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 3. Santa was kept busy for the three hours he was able to stay in Stallion before heading back to the North Pole. He returned on Dec. 10 for a few hours during the caroling rides to greet the kids that missed him at breakfast. On Nov. 5, the Stallion Springs Community Emergency Response Team, CERT, graduated a class of 12 new members having completed the 20 hours of training required for certification. The Stallion Springs Police Department recently took delivery of two new police cars. The cars are 2016 Ford Explorer Police Interceptors fully outfitted for police duty. In addition to the standard equipment they have washable rear seats to help with clean up from the occasional sick person arrested and a protective cage for officer safety. Police Chief Mike Grant was recognized by the Board of Directors for his graduation from P.O.S.T. Command College, known to be the premier law enforcement executive development program in the nation. John Barnes has been named the new Pastor at Stallion Springs Community Church. Barnes will begin his full time duties on August 14. He is from Texas, but has been a missionary in Haiti for the past few years. He is married to Christi and they have a teenage daughter Tehah, and two adopted Haitian children, Ava and Jordan. Welcome to Rebecca Sipes the new Office Administrator for the Stallion Springs CSD. Becky, as she prefers to be called, started Tuesday, July 5. Her experience includes past employment at the Murrieta Water District and she has Board Secretary experience, including several training certificates and she is very customer oriented. Police Chief Mike Grant reports, the Stallion Springs Police Department assisted the Kern County Sheriff at the Erskine Fire. Two units responded to the Fire on Thursday, June 23 and again on Friday, June 24. The third unit covered calls in the Tehachapi area when needed on June 23, 24, and 25.
