    When the TVRPD Board met on Nov. 28, they welcomed their new member Wes Backes who had been appointed by the city on Nov. 18. Backes and his family have been in Tehachapi for many years. He graduated from Tehachapi High School where he played football for Coach Denman. He is now a member of the Tehachapi Fire Department and stationed at the Valley and Curry station.     After a one year absence, the annual TVRPD annual fishing derby surfaced again to a large crowd of anglers. The lake was restocked with 1,500 pounds of fresh Oregon grown trout just days before the event. Many of the stocked trout were in the 4-6 pound range.     With a vote of 3-2, the City Council defeated a proposal by newly elected City Councilman Kenneth Hetge requesting that the City draft an ordinance limiting the number of years a citizen can serve on the City Council.     Christmas is coming and it was a busy week in Stallion Springs. Over 120 kids and their parents came to Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 3.     On January 20, 2016 the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District (TVRPD) delayed the seasonal opening of Dye Natatorium. We are pleased to announce that the pool was re-opened on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. In 2013, there was a closure due to the roof leak and discovery of black mold.
