Here are some considerations to help you make an informed decision: 1. Someone sent me a photo of a CH-47 I was flying that made the news in Kern County. Not an uncommon experience since I fly that large heli-tanker in and around Los Angeles. I had a little chuckle though because my big head sticking out the side bubble of the helicopter made the news. I'm there because I'm paid to do a job and paid well. The real news story is the people of Tehachapi. We had such a warm welcome there. Someone left a $200 gift card at Starbucks for any firefighters. So my coffee...

I first met Edward and Valerie Padua in Philip Marx Central Park during Tehachapi's 4th of July celebration. They stopped by The Loop newspaper's booth in the company of a giant, fluffy, 40-pound, six-month-old poodle "puppy" named Scooby who behaves very much like his namesake. Edward and Valerie had moved to Tehachapi at the end of May from Palmdale, where they had been living for about three years, and were anxious to learn more about their new hometown. Edward is employed by CalTrans Distric...
One of the best challenges theatre demands of an actor is to create a compelling character. Kenny Chugg, Director of "Deathtrap" by Ira Levin, lets the Tehachapi Community Theatre Association (TCTA) cast have their say. Sidney Bruhl, the famous playwright, was delighted to be interviewed. "It's always a pleasure to talk to the media. Although I haven't had a hit in 18 years, I'm in negotiations with producers like David Merrick. This play will be my crowning achievement: a stunning murder...

When looking for a good read, I don't necessarily reach for a literary tome full of weighty revelations and ponderous journeys. Depending on the moment, I might search for a reckless adventure or be tempted with something softer, letting a story wrap around me like a warm summer breeze. It can be lightly written, with characters not deeply carved but rather sketched in soft pastels, people that would fit into my own life. That is what I found in "The Hotel at Beach and Forgotten" by Nellie...
Postcards were once part of most people's travels, and I have hundreds of them that my family members gathered from 1906 onward. Many are interesting and unusual, capturing vanished scenes of America or the world abroad, but naturally my favorites depict a less exotic locale: Tehachapi. "Postcards from Tehachapi" is an extremely small niche among the thousands of categories of postcards, but I'm always excited to see my beloved hometown in photographic depictions, even if there's only a handful...
