The Sip Sip Hurray Wine Walk will take place on Saturday, June 23 from 7-9:30 p.m. with a change from previous Wine Walks, the wine will be served in three downtown parks: Centennial Plaza, Railroad Park and Freedom Plaza at the Visitors Center, rather than walking to the downtown businesses.     At their Feb. 21 meeting, the Tehachapi City Council approved a plan that could move the City closer to making the Tehachapi Event Center, Rodeo Grounds and Motocross Track a reality. They voted to apply to the FAA to have that part of the airport property removed from federal obligations while keeping it within the City's Airport Enterprise Fund.     Efforts to bolster the local visitor industry received a significant boost on Dec. 3, 2013 when the Kern County Board of Supervisors approved $100,000 worth of financial assistance through its popular Tourism Promotion Grant Program. It is anticipated that awards for the 2014 grant cycle will be dispersed to recipients in January on behalf of the Board of Supervisors, who approved the awards.
