Tehachapi Hometown Christmas Tehachapi Arts Center is excited to participate in the Hometown Christmas event again this year. This year is the Reindeer Rush Scavenger hunt. Come on in and find the reindeer and we'll stamp your Reindeer Rush Passport. This event runs until Dec. 23. The more stamps you have the more chances you get for the big drawing on Dec. 26. After I visited the Rio Tinto Mine in Boron (see the last issue), I drove south on Borax Road to Twenty Mule Team Road to get to the Twenty Mule Team Museum and the Aerospace Museum, also in Boron. I have a variety of antique items handed down from my Tehachapi family, but one of my favorites is one of the easiest to overlook: a 1907 Kodak Brownie box camera. This simple device is slightly larger than a Pop-Tart box and made of wood and cardboard covered with black fabric. There are a few metal parts and a couple of glass lenses, and that's about it. Alyssa Kamerer is a local artist who grew up in the Los Angeles area and is now a resident of Tehachapi. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Coast University and works locally in addition to producing her art, which is her real love.
