A large number of members from the local chapter of the American Association of University Women enjoyed an afternoon lunch in Adventist Tehachapi Valley Hospital's Mountain Cafe. Open to the public, the cafe serves breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and lunch/dinner from 11 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, and until 5:30 p.m. on weekends. The kitchen and its staff is currently serving around 75 to 100 meals a day to employees, visitors and patients....

Due to weather the annual Christmas Parade, presented by the Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce, was delayed and held the evening of Sunday, Dec. 2. On Saturday, Nov. 3, Tehachapi teens helped solve a murder mystery in the library, Sherlock Holmes style, during the Teen Fandom Club event. On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Tehachapi Branch Library celebrated Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with a festive event. Attendees enjoyed dance performances by Baila Folklorico, crafts where kids could make masks and decorate cookies, learned how to research their ancestors with family history consultants and altars paying tribute to loved ones....
The 2018 Tehachapi Apple Festival was well attended on the weekend of Oct. 13 and 14. Featuring apple related items and food, the festival also included fun for kids, a car show, an apple pie baking contest and more. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities including the Tehachapi Lions, Rotary, Interact, Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra, American Legion Auxiliary, Salvation Army, Wreaths Across America, and Veterans Groups....
The Tehachapi Mountain Trails Association's BrewFondo was held in conjunction with Cheers to Charity's HomeBrew event on Saturday, Oct. 20. The event included various bike routes for cyclists of all ages, a live band, beer tasting, food, soda and wine, which were available for purchase. Richie and Courtny Meister celebrated the expansion of Lion Heart MMA on Oct. 20 – the largest mixed martial arts gym in the area. At 6000 sq. ft., Lion Heart offers classes for ages 3 and up, and features a strength and conditioning room and class. They will soon be adding an Açaí bowl and smoothie bar for students....

Stallion Springs Parks and Recreation put on their festive annual Oktoberfest on Oct. 6. Visitors enjoyed live music, beer and brats, a variety of vendors, a petting zoo and Volkswagen show. It was fun for the whole family....

On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Tehachapi Library became Hogwarts School for many teenage witches and wizards attending the Teen Fandom event. Attendees made wands, mixed potions, played several lively matches of Quidditch, hunted for Horcruxes throughout the Library, enjoyed Harry Potter themed snacks, toasted their Houses and tested their knowledge with trivia. The next Teen Fandom event at the Tehachapi Library will be a Sherlock theme on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 12:30 p.m....
