On May 17, 2018 the Tehachapi Police Foundation hosted the 2nd annual Thin Blue Line Banquet at the Rose Garden Estates, honoring members of the department for their outstanding achievement over the past year. The City of Tehachapi recognized the Tehachapi Community Church, UCC with a special certificate of recognition in honor of its 90 years of continued pastoral service to its parishioners. The weekend of April 7 marked the end of an era for the Tehachapi wine industry. Bob and Patty Souza, the growers who started it all in 2003, symbolically poured their last wine. The reins were passed to new owners Mike Van Atta and his wife Beth Hamilton, who have been Tehachapi residents for about 10 years. On April 9 the King Midgets West Car Club, a chapter of the International King Midget Car Club, had a get together from April 9-12 in Tehachapi. One of their many stops included the Tehachapi Museum. Tehachapi resident Stephen Schrepfer, owner of Think Green Pedicabs, brought one of his units to the April 4 GTEDC meeting. Schrepfer had treated City Manager Greg Garrett to a ride the day before. Garrett told the group that he liked the pedicab project. Schrepfer hopes he can have them available in Tehachapi this year. Since its founding the Friends of the Tehachapi Depot (FOTD) have taken on the task of promoting railroad safety. Here in Tehachapi, with its many vehicle crossings and over a mile-long corridor of double railroad tracks going through the center of town, unsafe crossings by pedestrians are a common sight. In Friendship Hall of Tehachapi UCC rehearsals have begun for the Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra's spring concert. Under the baton of Musical Director and Conductor Dr. David Newby the symphony warmed up with Beethoven's Symphony #4 in B Major, Opus 60.
