The 1st annual Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District “Battle of the Bands” on Saturday, June 27 came off like clockwork thanks to the great weather and the efforts of LeeAnn Williams from The Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District. The final day of TCT Playwrights Festival began with a private brunch with TCT Board of Directors where all finalists received a TCT Festival medallion inscribed with their name and the name of their play. Many exciting new plans have been added to the Tehachapi Mountain Beer and Wine Festival. It takes place on July 18 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Benz Sports Complex in Tehachapi. Many breweries have submitted craft beers for the Beer Competition. National and state sanctioned beer judges will be tasting the entries and determining the best brew in several categories. If you are planting a new landscape, drought tolerant plants are a viable option! I have many different Sedums to choose from, they are very low growing to 3' tall. One of the most drought tolerant plants in the nursery are sempervivum or "hen and chicks". Watering once a week or less would be plenty for this succulent.
