    "The Beatles" tribute band performed on Sunday, June 16 at Philip Marx Central Park as the kick-off of the Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District Concerts in the Park series in association with Fiddlers Crossing and MusicMX Entertainment. The performers are members of the tribute band "Ticket to Ride." This is the first of several summer concerts in the park for this year.     Tehachapi Branch Library hosted their first annual Comic Con on Saturday, June 15. Over 200 comic fans showed up, many in costume, to enjoy the festivities.     The Tehachapi Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 5948 continues the lineage of Tehachapi by showing off the town's colors and accolades on the post's boxcar. Jocelynn McCloskey (shown), and father veteran Skip McCloskey, the post Judge Advocate and a Tehachapi resident working at NASA, took four months to create this marvel.     By day's end on Friday, May 17 nearly 80 of these vintage Chevrolet vehicles, driven by members of the Vintage Chevrolet Car Club of America, were in town or had passed through Tehachapi.     Some members of The Order of Eastern Star from both Tehachapi and Bakersfield got together for a Port Pal Palooza on Saturday, May 18. Port Pals are small pillows with velcro that can be attached to seat belts for those with medical ports or pace makers. The seat belts cross the area of these ports and cause discomfort and these small pillows protect the area.     The Tehachapi County Community Water District (TCCWD) conducted their annual district tour on April 18. Members of the community traveled by van down to the Edmundson power plant at the base of the Grapevine and then followed Tehachapi's water to two of the three power plants that pump the water up the mountain to Stallion Springs and then on to Brite Lake.   • Brite Lake Fishing Derby

    Anglers were treated to a springtime carpet of color at this year's Brite Lake Fishing Derby on Easter weekend. Hosted by TVRPD, nearly 350 fisherman participated. The largest catches went to Cooper Brown, in the 0-to-9 -year-old category. Cooper's trout weighed in at 2-pounds, 13-ounces.     For the first time, since the start of the Mr. Warrior competition at Tehachapi High School, there were two winners. The numerical system used by the three judges produced a tie.
