On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Tehachapi Library became Hogwarts School for many teenage witches and wizards attending the Teen Fandom event. Attendees made wands, mixed potions, played several lively matches of Quidditch, hunted for Horcruxes throughout the Library, enjoyed Harry Potter themed snacks, toasted their Houses and tested their knowledge with trivia. Tehachapi dogs, great and small, gathered for Have a Heart Humane Society's annual Gone to the Dogs 5K Fun Run and Pet Festival on Sept. 8. Tehachapi's 8th year for National Night Out took place at Central Park Aug. 7. The event is held yearly as a means to introduce the public to the men and woman who work as First Responders. On hand were Kern County Fire, Tehachapi Police Dept., Kern County Sheriff, Kern County Search and Rescue and Hall Ambulance. On Aug. 11-12, the Tehachapi Loop Railroad Club presented their Summer Model Train Show at the Aspen Builders Inc. Activity Center, 410 West D Street. The club hosted a neighboring club from Lancaster, had several layouts from G to Z scale and held a raffle, which included a six-month club membership and "Thomas the Train" items. Tehachapi Mountain Trail Association has donated a bicycle pump and service station to the City. It has been placed on Curry Street next to Freedom Plaza and the Tehachapi Visitor Center. Tools are attached to the unit and may be used for bicycle repairs. There is a QR Code on the unit that a rider can use to access instructions for making repairs they may not know how to make. He held a rally in Railroad Park on Tehachapi Blvd. Meuser's statewide bicycle tour traverses 5,000-miles and includes 100 rallies in all of California's 58 counties, starting in Martinez and concluding in Huntington Beach on Aug. 23. On Saturday, July 7, teens gathered in the Tehachapi Branch Library Courtyard for a Hamilton-themed Ball. Attendees were taught a courtdance by Frances Heywood, a retired dance instructor, after which they enjoyed refreshments and a dance party under the twinkling lights as the sun set. On July 14 Scott and Susie Crooke, the owners of Tangleweed Farms in Tehachapi, hosted their third farmhouse dinner. Seventy five guests enjoyed dinner and wine while listening to Fatt Katt and The Bakerbilly Sound.
