On Dec. 8 at noon the Rotary Club of Tehachapi held it's 20th Annual Senior Holiday Luncheon. This event started with eight in attendance and over the years has grown to over 300 local seniors gathering for friendship and a full turkey, with all the fixings, lunch. The money was raised Friday, Oct. 28, to assist with the funeral expenses of the three Tehachapi residents who lost their lives earlier in the month on June Lake: Douglas and Jacob Langston, and Caleb Johnson. The Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra's first performance of the 2016 season played to a nearly full house. Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District opened the redesigned and improved Meadowbrook Park and Dog Park on Oct. 29, 2016. Hundreds of park patrons joined TVRPD for the ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration. It was an historic moment for the district and a long overdue amenity for the residents of Golden Hills. Local artist Mark Pestana, a member of the American Society of Aviation Artists, was honored with the acceptance of his work in the ASAA 2016 International Aerospace Art Exhibition at the James C. Westin Gallery at the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo, MI. Mr. Pestana was one of thirty-six artists from around the world whose work was selected from over 100 entries. At the top of the driveway, fighting over a dead squirrel were three magnificent condors. We drove right up to them and although they were aware of the car, they weren't the least bit startled or scared. All three were tagged - #66, #40, #79. Angel Biezeman took this lovely photo of her very active hummingbirds on August 23. She has 12 feeders at her home that need to be refilled several times a day. In recent months the hummingbirds usually go through about 2 lbs of sugar each day, but the last few weeks the feeders have even busier than normal. They are currently going through 18 lbs of sugar per week....
