A new venue is opening soon in Tehachapi. The Woods Pavilion, located in the downtown area, holds its Grand Opening on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. Catering will be provided by Mill Street Kitchen, with live music featuring Pat Halpin on the keyboard. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m., and a drawing for a free event booking will be held at 6:30 p.m.
The Woods Pavilion is a beautifully landscaped outdoor event center providing a large covered patio area with two fountains to add to the peaceful atmosphere; a staging area appropriate for business or community events, weddings, bands or dancing; a courtyard with an old world feel; a conveniently located BBQ area; and a Bride's Cottage for dressing and photo opportunities. Woods' nighttime ambient lighting contributes to the beauty of an evening affair. The pavilion and its surrounds can accommodate up to 200 people for a sit-down meal.
The impetus for the building of this unique facility was inspired by families associated with Wood Family Funeral Service. Wanting a close and convenient place where they could gather following services for their loved ones, families often requested onsite accommodations. This project was developed in nine months from the conception of the idea to its realization.
The Woods Pavilion has already been used in functions such as family gatherings, Tehachapi's Graduation Dinner (catered by Mill Street Kitchen – with a DJ, dancing and photographer) and is scheduled to hold an art exhibit for First Friday in August, featuring the works of local artists Frances Carter, John Hicks and Juanita Niermeyer.
