On Saturday, Aug. 9th, Tehachapi will celebrate under the stars during the first annual Cheers to Charity fund-raiser, held in an expanded and transformed plaza at Veritas Tapas and Wine Bar, located at 695 Tucker Road, Tehachapi.

Cheers to Charity benefits local charities and features acoustical music, mouth-watering tapas, California wines and skillfully made craft and home brewed beers - beneath the canopy of a beautiful August night. Choice cigars will be available for purchase, a silent auction and a free coffee bar will round out the fun.

All proceeds benefit six dynamic Tehachapi nonprofit organizations: Kelly's Therapeutic Riders; Tehachapi CANCER FOUNDATION; the Senior Center of Tehachapi; the Kiwanis Club of Tehachapi; Tehachapi TOURISM COMMISSION; and the Tehachapi VALLEY WRESTLING CLUB. COMMUNITY CLEAN SWEEP (CCS) is spearheading the event and has assembled the Cheers to Charity committee, consisting of Tehachapi area professionals, to raise funds in support of local nonprofit organizations. These organizers are dedicated to helping small, nonprofit organizations grow and flourish.

This mission pairs well with the goals of CCS which are to support programs that strengthen families and beautify communities. "The greatest thing about Cheers to Charity is that we have the opportunity to provide funding to several different small, local non-profit organizations", said Mary Beth Garrison a Cheers to Charity organizer. "We intend to switch up our charities each year to spread the wealth among groups doing good work in the community."

Cheers to Charity sponsorships are sold out. Mid-American Solar; the City of Tehachapi; Sangera Subaru; Sally Lawrence, Realtor; Bank of the Sierra; Rio Tinto; Go Green Bunny; Don Juan's Latin Fusion Cuisine; Benz Sanitation; Berchtold Equipment Co .; Coldwell Banker Best Realty; Dirt-T-Boys; Eaton Concrete; Eye Remember You; Hall Ambulance; Keller Williams Real Estate; RST Cranes; and Union Bank have all invested into the event. Tehachapi Lifestyle Magazine and The Loop are media sponsors.

In addition, Bravery Brewing and Kinetic Brewery are featured craft beer providers. Tehachapi's own Souza Family Vineyard and Triassic Legacy Vineyard will join Opolo Vineyards, Tobin James Cellars, Tackitt Family Vineyards, J Lohr Vineyards, Grey Wolf Cellars, Antelope Valley Winery, and Chavez Wines in providing delicious wines for event participants. Twelve home brewers will compete for bragging rights in the area's own Home Brew Competition.

Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at Veritas Tapas and Wine Bar or online at cheerstocharity.net. With an estimated 300 attendees, tickets are limited - so buy yours today! Make plans to join the fun and help us Cheer on Tehachapi Charities!
