Tehachapi Treasure Trove
Sept. 5, Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., Tehachapi Treasure Trove will again celebrate our First Friday Fun Fest. You're invited to come see our ever changing displays full of art, crafts, collectables and art supplies. Please join us for fun, refreshments, art, and a chance to visit with Lynne Freeman, our featured artist for September. Music will be provided by Art Larsen on clarinet.
Since early childhood, Lynne has expressed herself sketching, drawing and painting-inspired by her mother, Rosemary Booth, a lifelong oils artist. After retiring from the corporate world, Lynne eagerly resumed her artistic pursuits on a full-time basis. She has honed those skills with extended formal study under Kathryn Roark, a well-known Las Vegas artist, and the late Joyce Hunter of Bear Valley. Lynne has attended workshops from several well-known artists. More recently, she has taken workshops with Leila Kleiman to learn glass fusing skills.
Lynne's Studio Bee, in Oak Knolls, is bright and sunny with lots of natural light and several easels set up for her classes and painting studios (paints regularly with lots of friends). Also is equipped with a computer, glass tables, kiln and Sassy the Schnauzer.
Lynne has enjoyed the privilege of introducing young people to art with the hope they will, over time, find it the "life changing" experience she has...a beautiful way to express oneself creatively and a new way to look at the world around you. Several of her past teen students have won ribbons and scholarships for their artistic abilities.
Locally, Lynne has participated in Chalk on the Walk and has displayed her work at Gallery and Gifts, The Art Center, Cross Roads and now Tehachapi Treasure Trove. Particularly interesting is her recent work reproducing some of her paintings in fused glass, skills she learned in classes with local artist Leila Kleiman. Some of these unusual and interesting sets will be on display First Friday.
Everyone is invited to the Treasure Trove on Friday, August 1 from 5 to 8 pm for our First Friday event. Come have a glass of champagne or wine, a bite to eat, say "hello" to Lynne and join the fun! Tehachapi Treasure Trove is located at 116 E Tehachapi Boulevard, right across the street from the water tower in Railroad Park. Hours are daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Sundays 11 to 4).
