The Stallion Springs CSD held its regular Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, September 16. CSD Manager Mary Beth Garrison reported that July/August meter readings showed a 13.4 percent reduction in water usage. Garrison said, “This is pretty remarkable when you consider we have 30 more active accounts this year as compared with last year at the same time.”
The CSD has spread the word on water conservation on the website, Bridge Newsletter, signs, vehicle magnets/stickers, community meetings and door hangers. Still approximately 100 property owners continue to use over 7500 units. Those owners will be contacted via letter and advised of conservation issues and requirements.
The Board approved the relocation of an Equestrian Easement to access the trail from Caparell Court and abandon the access from Horesthief Drive. This was recommended by the District Lands Committee due to steepness of the grade and proximity of the Horsethief access to the property owner’s home.
Potential encroachments on the existing trails were also discussed and letters will be sent to those owners advising them of the regulations concerning the trails.
The repaving of Stallion Springs Drive from Crofun Street to the bridge has been completed.
During the month of August the Stallion Springs Police Department received 87 reports, had 112 calls for service, preformed 47 want and warrant checks, preformed 134 officer initiated investigations, conducted 40 field interviews, issued 12 citations and made 12 arrests. Chief Mike Grant thanked Members of the Stallion CERT team and the Police Department Community Service Unit for their assistance during the GranFondo bicycle ride.
Members were reminded to call dispatch at (661) 861-3110 for non-emergencies/non-life threatening events and to call 911 for reckless drivers and emergency/life threatening events. Chief Grant has put in a request for a 3-way stop sign at Bowie and Man O’War. Intersections where speeding and stop signs are being run were discussed and citations are being issued at those locations.
Chief Grant made a presentation on home safety tips and notes including locking doors, both home and cars, use of motion sensor lights, home alarms, alarm warning signs, no soliciting signs, landscaping and vacation notification to the SSPD.
Work continues on the front entrance of the Community Center to decrease water use. The project is being funded through a $20,000 grant from COMMUNITY CLEAN SWEEP. Both the expanded patio and the front entrance will be completed by Oktoberfest.
