TCT Sets Date for Hopeful Directors to Pitch Their Play for Next Season

Tehachapi Community Theatre

Nov 14 and 15, 2014

The TCT Production Committee will be reviewing plays at "The Pitch" , November 14th and 15th

The Tehachapi Community Theatre is taking proposals for plays to be produced in the next season (2015-2016), and the public is invited to come and give us your input! This will be an exciting opportunity for the public to watch and take part in our selection. Everyone attending will be allowed to ask questions about each of the proposed plays and we encourage your participation.

We will take these proposals in the classic form of "The Pitch". We invite all wannabe directors to submit their play of choice as well as any local or new playwrights – who may not wish to direct – to submit their own works. The Pitch is your opportunity to sell the production committee on why a particular play should be produced at the BeeKay by the Tehachapi Community Theatre group.

This will be a fun and exciting event to be held over the weekend of November 14th and 15th at the TCT Second Space. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and pitches will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and end about 9:00 p.m. The second Space is located at 431 West J. Street Tehachapi at the end of the cul-du-sac. The second day the pitches will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. with the doors opening at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until about 2:00 in the same location.

All prospective directors must be prepared to present the following:

All pitches/proposals must be submitted with a full and complete script.

A complete verbal and written synopsis of the play.

What the play is truly about, the real theme.

Tell us a bit about the author of the play and his/her point of view.

Is the play relevant or timely and does it still work with the modern and/or younger audience?

Will it play well with our local theatergoers?

Tell us how you envision the stage set, lighting, costumes.

Include any challenges and solutions to presenting on our stage keeping in mind BeeKay limitations.

Music for musicals MUST be available easily.

A scene or partial scene from the production should be presented allowing us all to get a sense of the play. Actors are available if you do not know any and the TCT can provide plenty to help you accomplish the pitch. This is an important element of the pitch.

Each pitch will have a maximum 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions from the committee and the public.

Playwrights submitting a play must also meet all of the above criteria and show us a live scene, director or not.

Come prepared and enthusiastic.

Contact Daniela Hernandez, [email protected] to schedule actors and contact David Reed, [email protected] to get on The Pitch schedule one of the two days.

The Pitch will be held Friday night November 14th and Saturday morning and 15th at TCT Second Space 431 West J. Street, Tehachapi. So come to "pitch" or watch and let's all have a blast.
