Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
It’s now been one full year since I moved up here permanently. ”Here” meaning country living at 4000 feet, with wind, seasons, and life-style changes. I’ve been meeting people from the community and residents from all over the greater Tehachapi region, as well as tourists and visitors who’ve come to sample wine in the tasting room at Triassic. As my family and I have spoken many times, “There’s intrigue in the people up here, and the stories of their lives add to the quality of our lives.” Whether you made a choice to move or you grew up here, Tehachapi is special and we are blessed to call it “home”. As winter begins to set in, we hope to gather folks together to hear a featured story of history, adventure, science or education from some of our area residents.
Beginning this December and ending in March, Triassic Legacy Vineyards will be hosting a lecture series on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 7-8:30 p.m. The dates are Dec. 10, Jan. 13, Feb. 11, and March 11. The series will be called “Winter Wednesdays” and will feature a different guest speaker each month. We have found several of our Tehachapi Mountain residents with fascinating life stories and amazing accomplishments. We hope that the central location of Triassic Vineyards in Cummings Valley can bring people from town, Golden Hills, Stallion Springs and Bear Valley. Inviting the public in to share a short evening of interest and fellowship is the purpose of the event. Refreshments, such as hot cider, cocoa and/or wine, will be served in a cozy atmosphere.
Our first Winter Wednesday, Dec. 10th leads us right into the Christmas season and will feature Keith Sackawitz and Nick Smirnoff from the Tehachapi Train Depot Museum. They have a 20-min power point presentation on the history of our trains. Just like our very own Polar Express, guests can bring an unwrapped TOY to be donated to the Tehachapi area foster care program “Koinonia Family Services”. Please mark your calendars for Dec 10th, 7 – 8:30 p.m. at Triassic Legacy Vineyards, corner of Hwy 202 & Cummings Valley Road. Plan to join us for a stimulating subject of engineering muscle and skill that shaped our town.
