What's Up in Stallion Springs?

The Board of Directors held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the CSD building. Director Susan Mueller who chose not to run for re-election was thanked by the board and audience for her service over the last nine years. Newly elected Vince McLaughlin will take her place at the December board meeting.

Retired Police Chief, Brad Burris has been named as Interim General Manager to fill the shoes of Mary Beth Garrison who resigned in October. Current Police Chief Mike Grant will act as assistant General Manager assisting Burris.

David Burt, current Board President has tendered his resignation from the board over concerns of possible conflict of interest with his current position as a county building inspector. Burt has served on the board for six years. The board upon acceptance of his resignation will have to decide whether to appoint someone to complete the remaining two years of his term or to hold a special election to fill the vacancy.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on December 16 in the board room at the CSD.

Stallion Springs PD Chief Mike Grant will provide a “Suicide Awareness Presentation” on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. and again on Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at the CSD, Emergency Operations Center, 27800 Stallion Springs Dr. The public is invited to attend. Suicides among young and old alike are on the increase.  Learn how to recognize pre-suicidal symptoms and how to intervene. Suicides can affect all of us.

Special event

Each year PAL collects donations for the children at the Jamison Center in Bakersfield. These children are very appreciative of the gifts they receive at Christmas time from the program. Donations are needed of toys and money to assist in this program. Donations can be dropped off at the Police Dept in the CSD building prior to the Saturday, Dec. 13 event.

Friday, Dec. 12, Christmas Caroling Pick up tickets at 4:30 p.m. Rides start at 5 p.m. and go through 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, Breakfast with Santa starts at 7 a.m. at the Community Center.

Tuesday, December 16, 6 p.m. CSD Board of Directors meeting in the CSD office. The public is invited.
