Twenty-five veterans, from the on-going local Air-Stream Wind Turbine classes, were entertained on Tuesday, Dec. 16, by local Cub Scouts. This is the Cubs third visit for this purpose. After a turkey dinner, served and prepared by “den moms”, and helpers, games and entertainment was provided by the young scouts.
Laughter prevailed as the Scouts, with the vets taking part, performed a song followed by a skit. Boy Scouts, Jeremy Rivers, Jack Schuyler and Brian Morse, from Troop Three, were on hand to assist the Cubs. Assisting from the Webelo Scouts, Nathaniel Garnica, Isaac Johnston, Caeden Smith and Christian Morse were present. From the rank of Bear, Jake Schuyler was on hand to help. From the Wolf rating there was William Small, Matthew Burke and Julian Montes. The evening kept the boys on their toes.
Den moms and dads are Elizabeth and Scott Small, and Greg and Lorrie O’Brien, who had extra volunteer moms and dads bringing in food and assisting in serving.
The veterans attending the six week long classes, and coming from all parts of the United States, are unemployed and the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary supplement their food needs by providing staples each week.
