Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
The Tehachapi Humane Society and Dr. Billingsley's Veterinary Clinic have joined forces to provide a new program named "Fix Your Pet." The spay/neuter clinics are open to low income residents of Tehachapi only. Clinics are going to be held on Feb.11 and 25. Then again in March, also on the 11 and 25. There will be more dates forthcoming.
The spay & neuter surgeries will be performed at Dr. Billingsley's clinic in Sand Canyon, Tehachapi. The pets will be given a pain medication injection and remain overnight. They will need to be picked up the next morning at 8:30. A rabies vaccination, FVCRP vaccine for cats and a DHLPP vaccine for dogs will be given if needed. Vaccines are extremely important for our pet's good health. The co-pay for everything is just $10 for cats and $20 for dogs; cash only. This is a GREAT deal!
No pets over 6 years old. A blood test is needed for a pet over six years old and that is not being offered as part of these clinics.
There will be a limit of 10 animals for each clinic. If we can't get your pet in the first clinic, we will keep your name and number for the next clinic. All reservations must be made through Tehachapi Humane Society. Please call (661) 823-0699, select option 8 to make a reservation.
Tehachapi Humane is pleased to announce that Tehachapi Veterinary Hospital will also be joining this effort and providing dates for clinics in the near future.
If you live outside the Tehachapi area and/or do not qualify for this program, THS also has spay/ neuter vouchers available to help with the cost of altering your pet at a veterinarian in Kern County.
