Triassic & Stray Leaves join Souza with award-winning wines

Tehachapi's own Triassic Legacy Vinyard and Stray Leaves Vineyard participated in this years San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Triassic Legacy had sent five of their wines to the competition and were thrilled to learn that all five of their estate grown wines had won awards. This event is the largest competition of American wines in the world and had over 6300 entries this year.

Triassic Legacy 2012 Zinfandel was awarded a double gold award. To win a double gold, a wine must be chosen unanimously by the entire panel of 57 judges.

Triassic Legacy 2012 Syrah was awarded a gold.

Triassic Legacy Rocks (52% Zinfandel and 48% Syrah) was awarded a silver.

Triassic Legacy 2013 Viogner was awarded a bronze.

Triassic Legacy 2013 Viogner – Lot 2 (99% Viogner and 1% Muscat) was also awarded a bronze.

Cliff Meredith of Stray Leaves Vineyard on Highline enthusiastically announced this week that their Stray 2013 Syrah and Stray Leaves 2013 Riesling were awarded bronze medals in the homebrewed category. While these wines are not available for sale, Meredith is participating in the Main Street Valentine’s Wine Walk pouring his wine at Country Real Estate February 14.

Triassic will be participating in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition’s Public Wine Tasting Event on February 14 to be held at Fort Mason in San Francisco. As award winners of the competition they will have one of 400 booths and will be representing both Triassic Legacy Vineyard and the city of Tehachapi. According to the excited Arnold family, there will be 4,000 people attending this sold-out event which will feature the award-winning wines from the competition.

They will also be pouring their Almond Champaign at the Main Street Valentine Wine Walk Feb. 14 at the Tehachapi Depot.

Bob, the Wine Guy, from Souza Family Vineyard said that Souza did not send wine this year to the San Francisco competition, but their wines have been winning awards since 2008. They were thrilled to learn of this years award winners. “This is really great for Tehachapi,” Bob said.
