A letter from Dr. Brady, DC

Souza Winery’s ‘Celebrity bartender’, Feb 22

I would like for a moment to step away from my role as a doctor of chiropractic and become a bartender for a day to raise some money for a favorite charity of mine. Healing Horses and Armed Forces (HHAAF).

HHAAF is a local non-profit organization that works with veterans and their families to facilitate their return to normal life in a non-military world. veterans too often return home after tours of duty in war zones and find it very difficult to adapt to civilian life and hold a civilian job. This leads to further difficulty in family life and coping with the everyday challenges of survival.

The founders of HHAAF, Charisse Rudolph and Vic Martin, hold veterans programs at Rising Moon Ranch in Bear Valley Springs. The programs integrate horses and participants to build trust and understanding between the horses and themselves, which helps them trust and understand other people. The programs also incorporate psychologists and other professionals when needed to help the veterans and their families.

On February 22 I have been asked to be the “Celebrity Bartender” at Souza Winery to help raise money for HHAAF.

Being the bartender should bring back some long faded memories, as I was once a bartender in a pub in my hometown of Cobram, in Australia. We didn’t serve much wine there, mostly beer, but bartending is bartending, right. At least, I hope so. Bob and Patty will have to fill me in on all the details I may have forgotten in the past 50 years. Best of luck, Bob!

I am inviting everyone to come and join me, my wife Rhonda, and our good friends from Rising Moon Ranch, to Souza Winery on the 22nd to sip a little wine, enjoy some fellowship, maybe meet some new friends, and have a lot of fun. The fun will start at 2 p.m., when you arrive, and continue until 5 pm. Oh, and by the way, the 22nd is Oscar night and you are welcome to dress appropriately for such a party. We are planning to.

So, let’s all get together and raise some money to help veterans and their families after the tremendous sacrifices they have made for all of us.

I will see you there.
