Ronald Bivins, 87, of Modesto, California passed away peacefully at Doctor's Hospital Monday, Feb. 23, 2015.
Ron was born in Arvin, Calif. February 5, 1928. He moved from Arvin with his father Roy and beloved Granny to Bakersfield and continued on his academic journey through Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield Jr. College. His journey was cut short when he served in the Army Corps of Engineers in Germany for two years.
Upon the completion of his service he continued with his education at the University of Southern California and earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Ron was a successful petroleum engineer and began a petroleum consulting company called Petro-Econ.
Ron loved USC football and had season tickets for 40 years. He also was an avid golfer and was a Charter Member of Rio Bravo Country Club. He lived in Bear Valley Springs for 16 years.
Ron was a devout Christian and was very active in the Methodist Church and served on a variety of committees. Ron is survived by his daughter Susan and her husband Mark, granddaughters Ashleigh and Lindsay, half sister Jettie and ex-wife Pat Cooper. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, March 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd, Bakersfield, Calif.
