Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
The featured artist will be Bassema Korkor. Bassema creates a variety of unique jewelry and home decor using polymer clay and wire wrapping. Art Larson will provide background music on his clarinet. Come help us celebrate spring.
Bassema has been creating art in many forms, since she was a young child, she started drawing and painting. While living in Vienna as a young adult she studied oil painting with some well know artists. After moving to Tehachapi in 2006, she learned polymer clay and wire wrapping and other art forms from several of the teachers at Tehachapi Art Center including Juanita Niemeyer, Cathy Clark, Christi Friesen and Alejandra Whittier. She found that she loved working with polymer clay and playing with wire. Bassema has developed her own unique styles.
Bassema was born in Palestine (now Israel). She grew up in Lebanon where her family moved when she was a small child. Her mother and brother continue to live in Lebanon. At age 27, she moved to Vienna, where she lived, worked and studied art for several years. In 2006, she moved to Tehachapi to join her sister who was already living here. This past year, she became an American Citizen.
Bassema will be displaying her work and demonstrating some of the procedures she uses. Come join us: meet the artist, discuss her techniques, listen to Art on clarinet, have a glass of wine or champagne and enjoy a bite to eat.
