Non-profit Showcase organizer Linda Carhart was presented with a proclamation by Mayor Susan Wiggins and the Tehachapi City Council, at their April 20th meeting, recognizing April 12-15 as National Volunteer Week. The showcase was the first ever event of its kind locally and it was a resounding success with 42 participating non-profits. Linda read a note that she had received from the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum describing their positive experiences at the showcase.
Another point of order was Victoria Marsh being appointed by the City Council to fill the remainder of the previous City Clerk’s term. The oath of office was administered by Ashley Whitmore.
Andreas Atencio, Volunteer in Policing, was presented with a Certificate of Recognition by Mayor Wiggins for his service to the Tehachapi Police Department.
The council also approved an ordinance establishing the new Water Shortage Contingency Plan. This plan will bring the city into compliance with Governor Brown’s April 1st executive order regarding urban potable water use. Stage two of the ordinance will go into effect in 30 days. Enforcement will be handled in the same three stages as currently in effect. Plans are in the works for possible incentive programs. Watch for updates in future issues of The Loop newspaper.
