Tehachapi's Online Community News & Entertainment Guide
Our Low Flow Toilet Direct Install program is free to anyone in the City of Tehachapi (with buildings older than 1992 that still have the old high flow toilets), and we just expanded the program to Golden Hills multi-family properties. Our installation contract ends July 30, which means you need to get your application in by June. If you’ve been thinking about participating, NOW is the time!
The application is available on-line at
tccwd.com/water-conservation/ or call me at 661-822-5504. If you’re outside city limits in the CSD or County, the Low Flow Toilet Rebate Program is alive and well and writing checks for participants. Folks, there is no easier way to save water!
I know we’re all tired of hearing Gloom and Doom, but I can tell from the number of emerald green lawns out there that many of you are not getting it. This drought is much worse than those we’ve been through before. PLEASE conserve!
Applause, please! This week, most of our Water Conservation Heroes are Realtors.
The Tehachapi Area Association of Realtors hosted a great Water Conservation workshop where participants heard “What’s up with water” from community leaders, learned how to fix leaky faucets, and other practical water saving activities. Special thanks to Diana Williams and Linda Clough from Remax for making it happen.
Four Seasons Realty property managers sent water conservation information to all their tenants that included a direction to sign up for a free Irrigation Check-Up to make sure they are irrigating their landscape efficiently. A couple of tenants have called and made appointments. Hoping to hear from the rest of you!
Coldwell Banker property manager Kim Perry has really stepped up, and is working hard to get low flow toilets installed in the properties she manages. This is quite a juggling act when you consider the number of people involved: Kim, me, our installation contractor, and a couple dozen tenants. Way to go Kim!
Finally, let’s give it up for Henry at Henry’s Home for Less (432 West J Street) for stocking the Niagara Stealth toilet for rebate participants and others so they don’t have to go to Bakersfield to buy it. At just 0.8 gallons per flush, the Niagara Stealth is the lowest flow toilet available on the retail market. I’ve got one in my place and it works great. Thanks, Henry!
Are you a Water Conservation Hero? Strut your stuff! Free “Brown is the New Green” lawn signs are available at the TCCWD office (22901 Banducci Road next to Brite Lake), or call me at 661-822-5504 and I’ll drop one off at your home or business.
We’re proud of you!
