Nancy Grecian, age 68, passed away on May 14th, in Tehachapi, CA. Nancy was born to Bill and Marcheta Lockhart on June 20, 1946, in Tulsa, OK. She spent her youth and school years in Craig, CO. She received her teaching certificate with a speech and theatre major from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. That’s where she got hooked on theatre while performing the ingénue role in Moliere’s “Tartuffe.”
Her teaching career began in Tehachapi in 1969, where she taught English, math, and geography. She joined the Tehachapi Community Theatre the following year. In 1975 she began the Youth Entertainment Showcase, to which she dedicated 20 years of her life. Nancy was also the drama teacher at Jacobson Junior High School, having a positive influence on thousands of students’ lives.
In 1979 she married Jim Grecian and became a second mother to his three daughters. They celebrated 35 years of marriage this past August. As well as being an avid supporter of the arts she enjoyed family, traveling, good friends, gourmet group, and the other great passion of her life, music.
In 2003 she was honored with the Citizen of the Year award.
Nancy was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by Bill Lockhart and James Grecian. She is survived by Marcheta Lockhart, Linda Laubhan, Billie Luckett, Jennifer Hicks, Jamie Taylor, Julie Banigan, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Thank you, Nancy, for being a part of our lives.
A memorial service is being held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 3:30 p.m., at Wood Family Funeral Service, in Tehachapi, CA. In remembrance, charitable donations may be made to: Smile Train, P.O.
