What's Up in Stallion Springs?

A community reminder from Police Chief Mike Grant that there are wild animals in Stallion Springs. We normally can see quite a variety of wildlife in Stallion Springs: elk, deer, wild boar, raccoons, bobcats and the occasional mountain lion. The elusive black bear can sometimes be seen as well. Please do not approach these wild animals. Wildlife has the potential for being dangerous and your close proximity could be perceived as presenting a threat. A simple bag of garbage, bowl of pet food, or plate of leftovers left outside your home or vacation site, can cause severe harm to wildlife. Remember, we are in a severe drought. Drought forces wildlife to lower elevations in their search for a water source. As prey congregates at lower elevations, so do the predators. Mountain lions and bobcats are predatory animals. Black bear’s generally are not predatory but opportunistic animals.

We are in a severe drought. Please conserve water as much as possible. Fix leaky faucets, use drought tolerant landscape, reclaim water. Try a “Navy” shower: Get in, get wet, turn off the water, soap up, rinse off, get out.
