Reserve Lieutenant Darrell Brown was sworn in by Mayor Susan Wiggins during the City Council meeting. Brown, who retired after 29 years as a sergeant with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department, has been a Tehachapi resident for 10 years. Over the years he has specialized in community relations, crime prevention, disaster, preparedness, media relations and volunteer programs.
He is a recipient of the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department Distinguished Service Award and the Meritorious Service Award.
Brown managed the largest school resource officer program in the sheriffs department and is an expert in school safety. He has also been Director of Safety for the Antelope Valley High School District.
Chief Kroeger said that “ we pulled him out of his third retiremant” and Brown will be very involved in the Tehachapi’s National Night Out.
